Russian and Macedonian form of Niketas. This form is also used in Ukrainian and Belarusian alongside the more traditional forms Mykyta and Mikita. Originally a male name in Russian language, derived from Greek niketas, which means "triumphant, victorious." It has been used as a female name since the 20th century, in most eastern European countries, however, it remains mainly masculine. Popularized by the French film Nikita by Luc Besson.
