From the Hebrew name (Tirtzah) meaning "favourable". Tirzah is the name of one of the daughters of Zelophehad in the Old Testament. It also occurs in the Old Testament as a place name, the early residence of the kings of the northern kingdom. Tirzah originates in Hebrew language and means "she is my joy". In the Bible, she is one of the five daughters of Zelophehad. William Blake also used the name in his poem To Tirzah in Songs of Experience. In the Old Testament it appears as a place name.
